Shepherd’s Staff In-home Care provides assistance to elderly and disabled adults who want to remain safely at home. Services include light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands and incidental transportation, medication reminders, personal hygiene, and memory care.

The company was founded in 2011 by John and Angela Martin, who were inspired to start the business by their experiences helping their own parents. The company is based on these five core values, which must be upheld by every employee:

The cost of services ranges from $23 – $30 per hour, depending on the level of care and the length of the shift. Shepherd’s Staff caregivers are bonded and insured, carefully screened, and thoroughly trained.

Personal Profile

Deacon John & Angela Martin are 40-year residents of Walkersville. A long-time leader in the pro-life movement, Angela retired from her position at Maryland Right to Life in order to open Shepherd’s Staff In-home Care. She sees this as a natural extension of her deeply held belief that every human life is precious — regardless of age, appearance, or degree of disability.

John currently works at an engineering firm three days a week and helps at Shepherd’s Staff In-home Care part-time. A deacon in the Catholic Church, he developed a deep respect for the elderly while doing pastoral ministry at a nursing center during his formation. He ministers at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Libertytown.
